Hello friends,

This editor’s letter marks the last of the normal letters for the year. As you may have seen on our social media, I have gifted the staff a month off in December, as we have all had a tremendously difficult year and need the break. That means next issue, our November Sci Fi/ Fantasy issue that marks our 9th year as a journal, will be the last until 2021. I apologize that this will set back a whole issue’s worth of features that have been waiting for quite some time to be published. I hope everyone understands.

JFC, where did this year go? What a waste. Everyone has spent the year fighting hard with little footing gained; fighting about politics, fighting for civil rights, fighting to stay afloat financially, fighting to stay healthy, and fighting to stay alive. I want for us all to have a reprieve from fighting, a moment of silence where the din of living is replaced by the echo of the blood in our heads*.

Here in California I have been struggling to write, building dollhouses, watching The Haunting of Bly Manor, and rereading House of Leaves. I hope you are all watching and reading and writing things that make you happy, but if you’re not, that’s ok too.

Last month we featured work rehomed from Queen’s Mob Teahouse and Berfois. This month’s Writer of the Month is Taylor Byas. We only have a couple pieces from her, but they’re so fucking good that you can just read them over and over. I hope you enjoy them.

This month we’re also debuting a new recurring feature, Zora Satchell’s Super Short Show. Fans of short films should and will love it, so check that out.

We’ll be open for submissions through 11/30, then closed through December. January we’ll see you around for a new issue, open submissions, and a call for our beloved Pop Culture issue! I hope you love this issue and I hope you’re excited for next month’s special edition.

Until then, I remain

KCH
