Three Short Poems About New York by Tanya Bryan

Harlem

An open fire hydrant
Geysering crosswise
To spume at laughing children
With its lacustrine arms
Concrete turning from
Light grey to dark
Aqueous solution
To August heat wave

Chelsea in the Rain

wandering Chelsea
in the rain
galleries closed
on Mondays

still waiting for
Chelsea Hotel
to reopen
its Affect-ations to me

Burnham’s Folly

Edward Steichen's misty muse
The Flatiron Building
An architectural piece of cake
The only folly was those who doubted
Burnham knew what he was doing
