We’re too distracted by our lives
To notice the life around us
So wrapped up in our status
We fail to see anyone else
Thinking we’ve seen it all
Without wanting to see it again
No longer passing time of day
Rather holding it to ourselves
With our heads bent down
Determined to keep up
In a rush to do nothing
Having done everything already
Not wanting to do anything
Except get to where we’re going
Pushing everyone away
To prevent stepping on their toes
Too busy looking ahead
To know what’s around the corner.
