A face stares out
from the album cover,
worn eyes hiding
behind tinted lenses
the darkness of
the Hollywood
night lit by
a single spotlight
on sleepless
mornings I see
this stranger peering
at me from his
flat universe
his gaze inviting
me back to
haunted music
drifting back into
the mystery of
his photograph
and the wee small hour
nightmares that await
me after traveling
the sinister grooves
