The odds of a pro wrestler having a decent film career right now is slightly better than it was ten or twenty years ago. Dave Bautista having a substantial role in Marvel’s upcomingGuardians of the Galaxy film is what makes me think about this now, on top of his appearance in last year’s Riddick. While I wouldn’t pay to see Bautista headlining a film (or a pay per view, but that’s another matter), I think was a good addition to films like Riddick and The Man with the Iron Fists. I think he will be fine in Guardians of the Galaxy.

It’s not a big secret that 2013 wasn’t a big deal to me, a fact at least two people have now told me was an incorrect opinion on my part (I’ve never really understood the logic of an assessment like that, but fine). 2014 has so far involved the Golden Globes (I didn’t watch), people ripping apart the Photoshop job on Black Widow’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier poster, renewed attention for the Woody Allen child molestation accusations that first appeared in the early 90’s, and vague mutterings about the Oscars.

For me, movies don’t get much better than any of the confrontation scenes between Meryl Streep and the late, unquestionably great Philip Seymour Hoffman in the film Doubt. If you’ve never seen that movie, then you’re missing a slew of great performances, the best of which easily belongs to Hoffman. It’s a complex, discomforting, and intensely demanding film, in terms of its storyline. It also provides those scenes with Streep and Hoffman.

What’s that smell?  Is that…?  Why yes it is!  It’s Hollywood and it is incredibly desperate for your cash!  But how will you spend all that hard-earned money before Blockbuster season?  Fortunately I’m here to tell you exactly where to put your money before the big(ger) movies come out in May!

True, Tumblr lends itself to a certain degree of pretentiousness. The social justice aspect of the blogging site also tends to strike some people as being just as arrogant and narrow-minded as the people and social structures many on the site are rallying against. It really can be arrogant and narrow-minded from time to time (or all the time, if your blog identifies as an MRA). If you’re not really sure what the big deal is with someone like Tom Hiddleston or Benedict Cumberbatch, their respective Tumblr fan bases are going to terrify you.
