A Dog's Paws Smell Like Fritos by Jane-Rebecca Cannarella
Shawn told us that a dog's paws smell like Fritos. Except he called them Dipsy Doodles, but Marie didn't know what those were because they don't have them where she grew up.
"They're like corn chips."
"Oh. You mean Fritos."
Jenny didn't believe him, though, so Shawn wrangled his miniature pinscher in order for her to get a smell.
"Actually they sorta do." And the pinscher kicked his legs.
Zack decided to look up why they'd smell that way and a website told him that some bacteria starting with the letter P was the reason. But it was normal.
Marie said that she'd never smell her dog’s feet because, "that's weird."
But was it any weirder than how her friend Oliver collects wheat pennies and keeps them in a dried leather pouch on his desk? Or how Shawn's roommate Cameron only takes baths instead of showers? Or how Mike likes to eat mustard and potato chip sandwiches?
The miniature pinscher bit the air while everyone ping-ponged their weirdness around the room. Marie waffled.
"Maybe I'll smell his feet when I get home."
"Of course you will," Shawn said. "Who else do you know that has hands that smell like snacks?"
