POETRY / spontaneous maps (ii) / J.E. O'Leary
i’m lying with my back
against the wall, drunkenly
flipping music, chasing beers with beers,
being generally garrulous
in hand clapping good
cheer
next thing i know i’m looking
for my coat in a bar
all my friends are gone and
i don’t know why i’m here in the
first place.
it’s dark and loud and confusing
and happens too much and then
the next day is gone
eating grease
drinking coffee
leaning sick against buildings
trying to sort out the texts
trying to remember how i got home
in the purple light
