LETTER FROM THE EDITOR / May 2022 / Kolleen Carney-Hoepfner
Hello friends,
Welcome to our final spring issue of the year. Last month was pop culture month, and what a month it was! We were so lucky to showcase many, many talented and wonderful people, and we were glad to do it. It is truly a privilege to run this journal, especially the pop culture issue. Thank you again for another successful year!
This month I have decided that when we close our submissions we are not going to reopen poetry and fiction until 2023. My reason is probably obvious: we have such a backlog of accepted pieces, and it's starting to get unfair that people are waiting over a year to show up in the issues. If I keep things closed, we can catch up with our entire backlog and moving forward won't have such a long wait. I think that will be less stressful for everyone involved. It's starting to get to the point where I dread opening my email in fear of people yelling at me, and I don't like feeling that way. So, if you're going to send us fiction or poetry, get it in now, but make sure you know that you're going to be waiting a while before you show up in the issue. We will keep 24 hour submissions open for all categories, with that caveat.
There's really not much to say. The year moves on at a rapid pace. All of our editors and staff have their own things going on, and you can feel really overwhelming sometimes to run the issue on top of it. We're trying our best, and appreciate everyone's patience in terms of turnaround when it comes to publication and hearing from us re: submissions. As for the chapbook submissions, I am getting to them, and should have a decision made by June 1, only a month away from where I said I wanted to be. Thank you again. I've read a lot of great stuff, and it's going to be very difficult to figure out which chapbook I'm going to choose. It's heartbreaking really. Thank you again.
Like I said, there's not really much to say, so I'm going to end it on this note. See you next month for our first summer issue! Until then stay safe, stay happy, we love you.
Always,
KCH
