LETTER FROM THE EDITOR / October 2022 / Kolleen Carney-Hoepfner
Hello friends!
I can't believe this year is winding down as quickly as it is. Here we are with our penultimate issue of 2022; we're back in November, then we're off for the holidays. I want to thank you for your patience if you are a contributor to our journal. I know many of you were waiting upwards of the year to show up on the site. I'm happy to announce that the year long wait is no longer a thing. We're caught up, and now we're only asking you for a more reasonable few months wait!
Other things I'm happy to announce include the launch of our chapbook press, Cherry Dress, as well as the release of our first book, Gloom of Excruciating Desires by Olivia Pierce Graham. I hope you'll pick up a copy of Olivia's book, which is a collection of erasures using Nabokov's Lolita as the source material. It blew me away when I read it, and I hope it'll blow you away too. You can purchase it from the Drunk Monkeys site!
We're open right now through November for a lot of categories, including a special portal for rehoming pieces pulled from Hobart. I have a lot to say about Hobart, but none of it is very nice. Suffice to say we're not cool with misogyny or rape apology- your work is safe from these things if it's with us. Additionally, we don't run interviews, so we'll probably never waste your time interviewing someone you've never heard of who has nothing to promote except excuses for their mediocre writing! It's a win win.
I hope you have a frighteningly wonderful Halloween. We'll see you next month- our 11th anniversary!
Love always,
KCH
