POETRY / I still throw the occasional can out of anger, / Devin Taylor
but down @thefloor,
or, more often, the outside patio.
Not @people, not @family, never
again. I'm not a teen,
it wasn't cute,
it never was, even then.
I gotta say though:
That aluminum dent,
that lack of shatter,
satisfies like nothing other, nothing
else. I would throw it
at a pillow
in lieu of
@humanbeings,
but they're so-so
so so so so
too too soft,
no blow,
you know? feels bad
man. feels good
man. The floor is pretty
great. It works.
Devin Taylor's poetry can be found in Gargoyle, Five 2 One, Maudlin House, and elsewhere. Recent poems mostly concern parental loss at a young age. They are being compiled into a collection called DEAD DAD INC.
