Hello friends,
I will be honest: I am exhausted and it is hard for me to find any energy to write this editor’s letter. So let’s keep it short and sweet.
Last month we were lucky enough to showcase some pretty solid work, including Darren C. Demaree’s poetry, of which I am a huge fan. I hope you had a chance to enjoy it all—Darren has a new collection out, Emily as the Forest Sometimes Wants the Fire, and I’m sure he’d love for you to check it out if you can. This month we’re featuring work from Carla Sofia Ferreira, and I’m very excited about it, because I am also a huge fan of her. I am a huge fan of everyone we feature!
I was going to write about a run in I had with a lit journal— it involves the alt-right— but you know? We had two major shootings in one day and I am just so tired. Maybe let’s not give Nazis a platform. There’s a roundtable coming out soon, which I participated in, about this sort of thing, and I will just link over to it when it comes out. I can’t emotionally handle anything else right now. I can’t get into it.
This summer seems so tense. Everyone is at each other’s throats all the time. It’s too damned hot. People are dying. Let’s try to just make it to fall. I think we can make it to fall.
Be well, be safe, punch your local Nazi—
Kolleen
