Letter From the Editor / June 2019 / Kolleen Carney-Hoepfner

Hello, friends:

Can you believe we’re halfway through the year? 2019 is slipping away at a rapid pace and it feels so hard to keep up with everything. Still, I can’t help but feel that things slow down a bit in the summer months, and I hope this letter finds you at a point where you’re able to take it a bit easier.

I am hoping you took time to enjoy the June issue! We love Michael Seymour Blake’s art and are so glad to have shared it with the world. This month’s WotM is Khalypso, and their poetry is something we are so proud to showcase. Khalypso is an amazing poet and an inspiring activist; I am proud to know them and I am always learning from them. I hope you enjoy their work as much as we do.

Perks from our fundraiser are finally getting the attention they need, and I apologize for the delay—so many delays, really— we sent on an email not long ago, but watch for a more personal one from me this month. If all goes according to plan, we should have everything settled up in the upcoming month. If you donated, there’s a kind thank you on our website: check it out under the Mission Statement page.

Managing Editor Chris, Founder Matt, and I recorded our first episode of the DM podcast Logcasting this past weekend; we’ll be breaking down every episode of Twin Peaks (as well as the movie and books), so when that is out I’ll be sure to advertise it. I know you want to hear us fumbling about while lamenting James as a character Lynch and Frost insist are “cool”.

We’re closed to submissions for the month, and will reopen for July and August on 7/1.

It’s Pride month, and from my bisexual self to you, I wish all who celebrate the very best. We as a publication love and support you. We need each other to survive.

For now— enjoy your June, enjoy this issue, and stay strong and beautiful. Welcome to summer!

Always,

KCH
