POETRY
Light Pollution
Garrett De Temple
you move like a planet
the curve of your limbs in orbit
against the cold combustion of space—
worming through the thickglow
of the mustard sky,
back sucked ribbon-like into fists
I want to change the nature of motion
un-fill a space to swallow
that paper-lantern glow,
fill myself like an aquarium
a blind riot
of wetbright color—
hold you in
as goblinesque scales silvering
under my shivering glasslight,
like the moon—
a dead thing, or
the silence of a dead thing
pooling an underside of light
catching your breath
in its teeth
