Stevie Nicks is telling her lover in front of thousands of people
You Can Go Your Own Way...
She is brave, even if she's screaming into a void,
Even if he no longer cares.
And I think about Lilith, Adam's first wife, the Bertha of her time,
banished for going her own way,
against the grain,
damning herself by being herself.
The mystery of Black Moon Lilith repeats and repeats
into itself: It is an
empty space, It is what happens
when we die.
Sex and death are so linked, or so Scorpios have been telling people
for decades, twisting on their barstools,
trying to be sexy / dangerous.
The nothing is what scares people, but it's also
what brings them in, like vertigo drawing you to the floor,
like the Grand Canyon's emptiness
bringing travelers ever closer to its rim.
Lilith exists quietly in the void, or rather, she doesn't exist at all;
so few of us feel we exist so much of the time,
especially those of us
who cry along to Stevie Nicks.
